Latest News: The Railroad Display Room (and the Dunsmuir Museum) will reopen April 19th from 10am- 2pm! They will both be open monthly and for town events. Additional room security cameras have been installed. We’ve also received City Council approval to add a mural by member Joe Vella to the Depot parking lot wall!
We are saddened by former Depot Society President Rita Green’s passing. To honor Rita for her many years of leadership, a plaque announcing the RITA GREEN AMTRAK STATION has been placed at the Depot.

2014 EVENTS
April 19th – SPRING OPENING – First official weekend we are open.
April 26th – OPENING DAY OF FISHING SEASON – Museum will be open 10am to 2pm. NEW – The “Golden Era of Fishing” exhibit from 1999 that was shown at COS has been gathered together and is now hung in the Dunsmuir Museum for your viewing.
May 3rd – DUNSMUIR MUSEUM GRAND OPENING – 2pm ribbon cutting. Open 2-4pm. Come and see your Museum and the newly installed Elinore Van Fossen Harrison Native American Basket Collection, which she donated to the Dunsmuir Museum. We are also going to display an arrowhead collection collected by Mr. & Mrs. I.E. Dennis Jr. from 1950-1963. They are being loaned to us by his son and daughter-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Boyd Dennis. Refreshments will be served.
May 10th – NATIONAL TRAIN DAY – (7th annual) Celebrate trains and train travel, 10am-4pm. Amtrak paper hats for children.
May 24th – PIE SOCIAL (6th annual) – Held during Dunsmuir’s Dogwood Daze, 10:00am until pies are sold out. We had 172 donated pies last year! Help us break the record. Call Phyllis at 530-235-0839 to donate your pie or pies.
June 13-15th – DUNSMUIR HOMETOWN HERITAGE CELEBRATION (formerly Railroad Days) – This annual community event features a pancake breakfast, parade, downtown walking tour, art shows, food, and music in the beautiful mountain town of Dunsmuir. For info call Dunsmuir Chamber at 530-235-2177. The Depot will have AMTRAK paper hats for children attending.
July 19th – DEPOT TICKET DRAWINGS – We have two AMTRAK Coast Starlight tickets for our annual raffle.
- Blue AMTRAK raffle tickets for a donation of $1 each or 6 for $5 or 12 for $10.
- White raffle tickets, 6 for $5 for a quilt called “Fly-fishing Guys.”
- Red raffle tickets, 6 for $5 for a 2nd “Mystery” quilt.
Please send your check made out to “Depot Society” and with your NAME and PHONE # to “Attention: Depot Ticket Drawings, P O Box 324, Dunsmuir CA 96025.” Winners need not be present to win. Winning tickets will be drawn on July 19th at 1:30pm.
